Four teeangers who were apparently playing with fire inside the Marianas High School premises got burned Monday night, when police booked them to the juvenile detention on arson charges.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes reported yesterday a structure fire incident within the MHS campus that was allegedly started by four male boys in their teens.

The suspects are accused of burning more than one grassroot huts at Saipan’s lone public high school, which were previously used as props for the cultural day celebration.

The incident was reported at around 10:27pm.

According to police, neighboring residents who last saw the boys fleeing from the crime scene had identified the suspects, who reportedly happen to be around the ages of 16 and 17.

It was not indicated whether they were students of MHS.

The group of juveniles were transported to the Criminal Investigation Bureau for questioning.

It was at the CIB office that the juveniles surrendered to authorities a lighter which they allegedly used to start the structure fire.

The Division of Youth Services also took teenagers in for further processing.
