A white Mazda pickup truck headed north wound up smashing a tree yesterday morning while traveling along the wet Beach Road Susupe curve in front of the KSAI radio station.

The crash was the latest of numerous mishaps that have been logged in within the accident-prone area in recent months.

According to eye witnesses, the operator of the skidding vehicle who took the outer bound lane apparently slammed into her breaks upon sight of a pool of water on the road path.

The abrupt stop caused her wheels to spin toward a nearby tree, which in turn caused her vehicle to collide with the stationary object.

The white Mazda pickup sustained damages on the left-hand portion, leaving the operator injured, witnesses said.

Three bystanders who were at the scene said aboard the vehicle was a woman driver and her teenage child.

When their vehicle rammed into the tree, the boy reportedly lunged out of the pickup truck and yelled for help. His mother, whose head rested on the airbag, was apparently bleeding on the driver’s seat.

An eye witness, Milet Bagason, immediately dialed 911 for police assistance.

Police promptly responded to the emergency call. An ambulance transported the crash victim to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment. (MM)
