Guam legislature hail THC contributions

The Guam Legislature last March 28 bestowed honor to Tan Holdings Corporation when it passed a resolution recognizing and commending the numerous contributions of the company to the economic development of Guam and the Pacific region.

Aside from hailing the contributions of THC to the region’s economy, Resolution No. 47 of the Guam Legislature cited how the increased economic growth has benefited the people of the islands of the Western Pacific.

The Guam Legislature also acknowledged THC’s contributions in various civic and community endeavors and it being a model corporate citizen in the island.

THC, according to the resolution, contributes generously to a number of charitable organizations in Guam, which includes the American Red Cross, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Teachers Appreciation Day activities sponsored by the Confucius Society of Guam, to various religious groups, to youth sporting events, and other worthwhile organizations.

In Guam, THC consists of the following business operations: Unity Development Corporation, which includes the management of the Century Plaza complex, Whimsy Amusement Centers, and the operations of Baskin Robbins ice cream stores; Consolidated Transport Services, Incorporated (CTSI), and Tango, Incorporated, which includes the operations of Micronesia Mall Theaters.

THC is involved in a myriad of business operations in Micronesia, including hotel and apartment operations, a travel agency, insurance and financial services, aircraft ground handling, freight forwarding, newspaper publishing, retailing and wholesaling operations, real estate development, amusement games operations, warehousing, garment manufacturing and the retailing of ice cream products.

The recognition from the Guam Legislature was awarded to THC in the occasion of its first-ever regional conference is Saipan from March 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.

Guam House Speaker Antonio R. Unpingco personally presented the resolution to THC executives Tan Siu Lin, chief executive officer; Willie Tan, president and Jerry Tan, executive vice president, secretary and treasurer.
