Welcome back. Last week we talked about some updates for MacOS X. This week we will talk about some MacOS X stats and others.

If you are looking for some beautiful pictures of Saipan, go to: (http://www.saipanphoto.com)

I would also like to remind everyone that all the year 2000 and after articles on the website ( http://www.mespn.com/forms/tech_articles) are now searchable by keyword(s) or article date. This has been requested a number of times from many of my loyal readers, and now it is available, check it out as well as the online version of the Saipan Tribune, which you can access by clicking the banner on that same page.

How is MacOS X doing

Out of the chute, MacOS X is doing better then most expected. Some speculated that a lot of people would wait for a later version. It seems that there are a lot of early adopters. About 175,000 in the first few weeks.

I think this shows the confidence that people have in Apple and MacOX X.

I have seen write-ups in the New York Times on MacOS X that have been very positive on MacOS X. You must remember the New York Times does not just hand out kudos that easily.

Some say MacOS X and the Titanium PowerBook had a lot to do with the recent profit showing at Apple. Apple is one of the few computer companies that showed a profit for the last quarter!

Apple Updates MacOS X to 10.0.1 (Build 4L13)

Apple came out with their first update to MacOS X release, and it is free for the downloading. If you are running MacOS X, you can run your software update found in the System Preferences folder.

You can also go to the Apple support software updates and download it from their ftp site.

More MacOS X downloads

You can also go to: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/

Where you will find many free downloads of software. You can even get the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5. Need to convert graphic files, you will find the latest version of Graphic Converter, version 4.0.7 there also.

Looking to try out programming? You will find RealBasic 3.1b8 there as well, programming for the rest of us.

Don’t forget, Appleworks 6, iTunes, and iMovie can also be downloaded from Apple’s website.

Summary

So I would say MacOS X is doing very well. This summer there will be a plethora of software as most of the software publishers will be ready with their MacOS X versions.

If you are waiting for MacOS X, the wait is over, now is the time. Ask the friendly staff at Marianas Electronics if you have questions or are ready to order MacOS X.

Get started with MacOS X today……..You will be glad you did.

Other Apple updates

Quicktime 5.01 was released over the weekend. Some of you were able to download it before Apple pulled it back. Why did Apple pull it back, this scribe does not have an official reason, but I am sure Apple has good one.

Those that were lucky enough to get though have found it to be all and more of what Apple said it would be.

If you go to the “Boot Camp” website , you will see the sound bites, and videos are all in Quicktime! More and more Quicktime is being for video content on the web. Even Honda’s Acura site is using Quicktime…. And how about those Park Wars….

Check them out at:

See you here and on the web next week.
