WAO Board of Advisors established

The Governor's Special Assistant for Women's Affairs has commended efforts to create the Board of Advisors for the Women's Affairs Office, which elected its officers last month.

The Governor’s Special Assistant for Women’s Affairs has commended efforts to create the Board of Advisors for the Women’s Affairs Office, which elected its officers last month.

The Board of Advisors was created to provide WAO with advice and recommendations on current programs, projects, and services, as well as advice on new programs, projects, and services that the Women’s Affairs Office can provide to the community.

The Board of Advisors consisted of women with various background in education, economics, government, private sector, social, and political areas. They are committed to help in uplifting the role and plight of women in the Northern Marianas.

The newly-elected officers are: President: Femie Rey; Vice President: Larissa Savares; Treasurer: Sister Stella Manglona; and Secretary: Reina C. Camacho. The Board of Advisors have been meeting every third Thursday of each month.

Their next meeting is scheduled for May 17 at the Saipan Grand Hotel’s Coral Restaurant. Membership is still open for interested women. The official documents to establish the Board of Advisors as a non-profit, private corporation, is currently in process.
