Salute to our teachers

The Issue: May 7-11 has been set aside for National Teacher
Appreciation Week here.

Our View: Teachers definitely deserve the accolades from the Northern Marianas Community.

Teachers are an extension of parents in communities and societies the world over. They spend a good six hours with children and young adults who report to school campuses throughout the CNMI five days a week.

They are dedicated people in the delivery of instructions to our children in academic and other elective courses of interest. They are swarmed with kids who hailed from different family background. Nevertheless, they make it a point to understand their individual needs, their strengths and weaknesses, and work the clock to assist them, accordingly.

Each teacher is involved in the daily planning of the next day’s lessons. Work for them doesn’t end at 4:30 P.M. They still go home with test papers and student home work to review and grade them in order to see the progress of each individual student in his or her class. In addition to this extra load off work, each must also attend to family obligations.

It matters to teachers how their students progress in their basic academic courses. Their performance would determine how well they would fare as they move up to the next grade level. It’s foundational development to prepare students for college or vocational and technical work when they leave school campuses in June.

If anything, teachers are usually equipped to deliver quality instructions. They also share their sense of care and love for each individual student in class. So their role really transcends academic instructions. For their ultra-sense dedication in the preparation of our children for “Life After Campus”, they definitely deserve the accolades and grand salute from each of us for caring about the welfare of our children. Thank you for your dedication and exemplary performance. Si Yuus Maase` yan Ghilisow!
