The Northern Yankees finally showed what they’re capable of after beating Kautz Glass Glazers, 12-2, last Monday in the Saipan Major League at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

The Glazers quickly got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning as lead off batter Eric Lizama reached base on a single.

He later scored courtesy of a single by Ron Benavente.

The Yankees countered in the bottom half of the inning as they scored 2 runs. With two outs in the inning, Robert Bansil reached base on a single. Bansil would then steal second and third, and later scored on a wild pitch by Glazers pitcher Hans Pua.

Pua would then walk slugger Greg F. Camacho, which brought hotshot Mel Sakisat to the plate. Sakisat would then smash a Pua fastball for a triple, enabling Camacho to score.

The Yankees would post another run on the board in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. Sid Camacho started the inning by drawing a walk, and eventually scored after right fielder Alvin Salas connected for a double.

The Yankees broke the game wide open in the third inning as five players crossed home plate for a commanding 8-1 lead.

With the bases full, Sakisat stepped up to the plate and once again proved to be dangerous as he hit a 2-run single. Both Mike Guerrero and Bansil scored on the play. Nick Guerrero would follow by slapping another single for the Yankees, enabling Greg Camacho to score.

Sakisat would then score on a wild pitch, while Guerrero stole home for the final run of the inning.

The Glazers finally scored another run in the fifth inning as Eric Kani scored on a sacrifice fly by John Acosta.

The Yankees weren’t satisfied with their lead as they exploded for four more runs in the seventh inning. Greg F. Camacho started off by smacking a double off Kani, who came in relief of Pua in the third inning.

Sakisat followed and finished off his perfect night at the plate with a triple, which drove in Camacho. He would later score on a throwing error by second baseman Bill Quitano.

Sid Camacho would then hit a solid single, driving in Nick Guerrero. Pat Camacho would then score the final run on a fielder’s choice.

By then the Yankees had already posted a 10-run lead, and were named the victors as the 10-run rule came into effect.

Yankees ace pitcher Chris Camacho went the distance allowing only 2 runs on eight hits, while striking out 3.

Sakisat went 4-for-4 at the plate and scored twice and drove in 4 runs.
