Treasury burglarized
Police reported a break-in at the CNMI Treasury Office in Capitol Hill last Wednesday, though it was not clear if funds were stolen.
Public Safety spokesperson Lt. Pete C. Muña said Dolores C. Celis, a Treasury employee, discovered the government office’s desk drawers and doors pried open, with papers scattered all over the floor.
Celis reportedly told police that she came in at around 7:15am of April 17 and discovered the workplace in disarray.
According to a police report, the front door entrance looked like it had been pried open. Muña also noted that the door of the office which housed the vault and payroll checks had been tampered with.
Police are investigating the burglary, Muña assured. (MM)
