A group of Saipan fishermen last week wrote to Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, thanking him for a job well done after repairing the dilapidated road at the Garapan Boat Basin.

In their letter, the 20 fishermen said, “we had sacrificed over a long period of time due to the poor road conditions at the Garapan Boat Basin. Both our vehicles and boat trailers occasionally had to undergo mechanical repairs because of the poor road conditions we have been encountering whenever we go out and come in from fishing.”

The Garapan Boat Basin is the only berthing site in Garapan for fishing boats when going out and coming in from fishing. About 40 fishermen use the Garapan facility daily.

The fishermen thanked Tudela for his “great concern, to improve the roads and public facilities throughout Saipan. We hope you continue your untiring effort and interest for the common good.”

The recently completed work at the Garapan Boat Basin was one among the major island beautification and road repair projects Tudela is undertaking to beautify and improve the island.
