The Philippine Consulate General would be conducting free business communications skill seminar for Filipino workers in the Northern Marianas.

“We’re waiting for people to register,” Consul General Julia C. Heidemann said. About 20 persons will be accommodated for the seminar, which would be held on Saturdays.

The seminar would have a total of 30 hours, she said. The schedule would be announced at a later date.

Heidemann earlier said there is a need to upgrade the competitive edge of Filipino workers on the usage of the English language.

The consulate has been emphasizing the need for this, citing that other countries have been training their workforce to meet the demands of increased globalization.

Other free trainings offered by the consulate include computer education, cooking, tailoring, and Japanese language, among others.

There are ongoing computer lessons held every Fridays and Saturdays, presided by Chris Hilario, an engineering graduate from the Mapua Institute of Technology, a prestigious Philippine college.
