Brewers, Aces best in batting and pitching

The Miller Light Brewers and the UMDA Aces are dominating the batting and pitching categories as the Saipan Major League season winds down.
As of April 19, the Brewer’ bats have been the most consistent at the plate with a .430 batting average as a team. They’ve accumulated a league best 108 hits in 357 at bats. The Glazers are ranked second in the league with a .364 average. They have 95 hits in 313 at bats.
The Aces, on the other hand, have the best pitching staff this season as they’ve combined for a 2.52 Earned Run Average. This, after allowing only 22 earn runs in 78.2 innings.
The Brewers have also put up solid numbers as they sit closely behind the Aces with a 2.54 ERA. They have allowed only 22 earned runs in 78 innings of work.
In the individual rankings, Craig Sanchez of the Pirates has been the most consistent hitter as he leads the league with a .444 batting average. He has accumulated 12 hits in 27 at bats.
Teammate Jeff Diaz is closely behind Sanchez with a .440 average at the plate. He is also among the league leaders with 3 doubles.
Ron Benavente of the Glazers is also having a solid season with a .433 average. He is also among the league leaders with 3 doubles and 7 runs batted in.
Jerome Delos Santos of the Brewers has displayed his power at the plate as he leads the league with 12 runs, 4 triples, and a homerun. Mario Sablan of the Pirates is tied with Delos Santos in the runs category for the league lead.
Greg F. Camacho, Greg C. Camacho, Bob Lizama, Manny Evangelista, Mel Sakisat, and Bruce Norita have also nailed balls out of the park for a share of the league lead in homeruns.
Frank Hocog of the Aces has been the most consistent in retiring batters with a 1.46 ERA. The Brewers’ Joe Guerrero with a 1.71 ERA and 19 strikeouts meanwhile is in close pursuit.
Teammates Pat Guerrero and Roy Celis are ranked third and fourth in the league as they sit with a 2.00 and 2.12 ERA. Celis has also accumulated 4 wins in 4 starts.
Pirate’s ace pitcher Kevin Kapileo is ahead in the strikeout king race with 29. The Glazers Hans Pua is just 3 strikeouts away with 26. Celis in ranked third with 25.
