UMDA Jr. Tennis tourney on May 3

The Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association is delighted to announce the 2002 UMDA CNMI Junior Tennis Championships will be held from May 3-5 at the American Memorial Park Tennis Courts.

Competition will be held in the boy’s and girl’s singles and doubles in the following age categories: 18 and under, 14 and under and 10 and under. Players are limited to one doubles and one singles event only. Entry fees are only $7 per person per event and includes a T-shirt and an awards party on Sunday, May 5.

Entries can be picked up at Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis and must be drop off at the same facility by 6pm, Tuesday, April 30. Draws will be posted at Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis and American Memorial Park on Thursday, May 2. Players are responsible for checking their own match times.

Joeten basketball to get underway

The 3rd Annual Joeten Group of Companies Basketball Tournament will tip-off tomorrow at the CMS Basketball Court in Gualo Rai.

Nine teams, including defending champions Saipan Stevedore and runner-up CMS-Benjamin Moore, have confirmed participation in the tournament. Other teams include Joeten Motors, who finished last year’s season as the second runner-up, JC Tenorio, Hafa Adai Shopping Center, Price Costco, Ace Hardware, Athlete’s Foot and Marpac Budweiser, who is a guest team in the tournament.

The Samahang Ilokano at Pangasinense Basketball League will have no games tomorrow due to the tournament.
