‘Extend Beach Road pathway to San Antonio’
The Beach Road pathway stretches from Garapan to the Veterans Memorial Park in Susupe but imagine it extending all the way to immediately south of the Pacific Islands Club in San Antonio.
The 4th Youth Congress apparently imagined the same thing, after passing a resolution asking the 13th Legislature and Gov. Juan N. Babauta to appropriate the necessary funds to make this possible.
During a session held last week, the Youth Congress passed Resolutions 4-13 and 4-14 asking both the Legislature and the Governor to allocate funds to extend the construction of the pathway to a point south of the PIC.
The Beach Road pathway runs the entire length from the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Susupe all the way north to South Garapan in Saipan and has been considered by both tourists and local residents as an added attraction on the island.
“Saipan residents and visitors regularly use the pathway for jogging, running, and walking, enjoying the west scenic view of Saipan’s beautiful western shoreline,” said Youth Sen. Perry Inos, the resolution’s author.
By extending the pathway to PIC in San Antonio, he said this would further promote the beauty of the island, as well as provide additional recreational and leisure opportunities to the general public. (J. Vallejera)
