First Saipan Counter Strike tournament held
A Computer Strike competition was held last Saturday at the Computer World Technology.
Starting off the competition were the Pinoy Strikers led by team leader Rick Galang and the Tactical Assault Group led by Sid Mostales. Pinoy Strikers won against the TAG by a score of 37-17.
The second competition was the BMOC, which stands for Big Men On Campus, taking on the Taliban. William Samari led the BMOC in a match against the Taliban led by Team Leader Tristar Cope that resulted in a 37-18 score in favor of the Taliban.
The third match was between the Bastard Battalion led by Herman “Sunshine” Cabrera and Peter “Lemon Drops” Cruz and the Elite led by brothers Anthony “Dark Angel” and John “Silent Stalker” Hamilton. This was the closest game so far to match ending with victory going to the Bastard Battalion with a score of 25-21.
Moving to the advance bracket was the Pinoy Strikers again going up against the Tropang Pinoy. The game was a blowout in favor of the Pinoy Strikers beating the Tropang Pinoy, 15-3. Also, the Bastard Battalion beat the Taliban in a hard-fought game, 26-21. Pinoy Strikers later faced Bastard Battalion, which won 43-18.
In Sunday’s final match, it came down to the wire with three teams competing for the top three positions. The Elite Group led by Anthony Hamilton, the Pinoy Strikers led by Rick Galang and the Bastard Battalion taking led by Herman Cabrera. Bastard Battalion took first place, followed by the Pinoy Strikers in second place, and the Elite coming in at third place.
Five teams have proven themselves into the Expert Class as follows: Bastard Battalion; Pinoy Strikers; Elite; Tropang Pinoy and the Taliban. The Intermediate class is as follows: Tactical Assault Group, Anti-Campers, and the Big Men On Campus.
The next Counter Strike tournament will be scheduled in two to three weeks. Saturday’s tournament was sponsored by the Pacific Islands Club, Kan Pacific, Pepsi, and Town & Country restaurant.
