The Enforcers of the Department of Public Safety were in cruise control as they ran over their DPS DARE counterparts, 94-51, last Tuesday in the Inter-Government Basketball League at the Garapan Court.

With no radar gun around the area, the Enforcers played with a lot of intensity and quickly built a 10-point lead in high-speed fashion, 18-8.

The DARE squad recovered in the second and actually outscored the Enforcers by a point. Frank Pangelinan, who scored all 8 DARE points in the opening quarter, continued his offensive burst as he punched in 9 more points to pull his squad within striking distance.

At the end of the half, the Enforcers were resting on a 34-25 lead.

The Enforcers would pull away in the third quarter as Roy Kaipat scored 8 of his 14 points in the quarter. They went into the final quarter with a comfortable 58-41 lead.

The fourth quarter belonged to sharp shooter Elias Saralu, who pumped in 16 points. His incredible effort in the quarter was too much for DARE as they combined to score only 10 points.

With veteran Peter Camacho sidelined due to an injury, the Enforcers relied on Saralu, who rose up to the challenge and came away with a game-high 33 points. Forward Jarrett Manglona also had a solid game as he finished with 15 points.

Pangelinan led DARE with 22 points, while Don Ogo chipped in with 12 points.

In the second game, the Department of Public Works bulldozed their way through the Public School System with a 54-46 victory.

Both teams played very physical, especially in the paint at the start of the game. Center Dave Camacho got off to a good start as he scored 6 points to lead his DPW squad to a slim 13-11 lead.

Camacho would continue his dominance in the second quarter as he muscled his way in for 10 more points. On the other side of the court, the educators were ice cold as they missed shot-after-shot, and ended up scoring only 9 points in the quarter.

It seemed as if DPW was going to run away with the victory, but late in the final quarter, PSS fought their way back.

Down by 14 points, Reggie Guerrero took matters into his own hands lighting up the DPW defenses with 14 points in the period to pull his team within 5 points with about 3 minutes remaining.

DPW however regrouped in time and hung on for the 8-point margin of victory.

Camacho led DPW with 22 points, while John Guerrero and Eric Atalig chipped in with 11 and 7 points respectively.

Guerrero was the high-man for PSS finishing with 18 points.
