San Vicente Head Start ends year
The school grounds of San Vicente Head Start was certainly crowded as 40 pupils celebrated their completion ceremony early Friday morning.
With the girls clad in long beautiful Hawaiian print dresses and the boys in a duplicate Hawaiian print shirt, the children welcomed parents, teachers, visitors, and friends with a welcoming song, Welcome, Welcome One and All, that was loudly applauded by the excited audience composed mostly of parents.
It was learned that the students’ parents collaborated to fundraise for their children’s graduating uniform.
Emcee Joanne C. Ogo led things off by introducing the graduating pupils as they took their seats on the stage.
Filling the audience seats, parents were trigger-happy with their cameras and camcorders, taking snapshots of their darlings, who were similarly excited with the event.
San Vicente’s Central Parent Involvement Committee president Rose Delos Reyes shared with the parents, teachers, and pupils her gratitude for all the effort they put in making Friday’s event successful.
Awards were presented to the parents in recognition for their dedication and commitment to the school and children.
It was also announced that Herman Tudela, the father of one of the graduating pupils and an active parent in the Head Start Program, will be representing the CNMI in the Fatherhood Conference that will be held in Dallas, Texas, on June 12-19.
Head Start teachers Joaquina Santos and Patrick Castillon then presented the certificates of completion to each student, who excitedly lined up to get their certificates to the accompaniment of camera shutters clicking.
Following the program, the students performed a surprise number for their parents and teachers, singing Goodbye and Adios to their teachers. They also danced to Ocho Ocho along with their parents.
To close the ceremony, San Vicente’s CPIC vice president Thelma Torres said a little prayer before the start of lunch.
