Public school teachers’ meeting set
Teacher Representative Ambrose Bennett is urging all Public School teachers in the CNMI to support the upcoming meeting for all teachers that will be held on May 29, Saturday, from 10am to noon, at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
The guest speaker for the meeting is former Education Commissioner and congressman William Torres, who is responsible for inserting in the CNMI Constitution the phrase that granted teachers bargaining rights.
The agenda includes a history of the constitutional amendment that granted teachers’ bargaining rights, the legal status of teachers and the Teacher Panel of School Level Representatives, future plans for funding and linking with the PTA and the creation of a website for teachers and parents.
There will also be a reading of the CNMI Teachers’ Manifesto of goals and concerns of teachers, as well as an open forum with Q&A.
“I am humbly and respectfully asking all CNMI teachers to attend this meeting,” he said in a statement.
