The 2004 Summer Youth Sports and Day Camp kicks off this coming Monday, June 7, with three full weeks of fun-filled and educational activities for children ages 7-14.

Parents have until this Friday, June 4, to register their children for the camp, which is being organized again this year by the Division of Sports and Recreation and the Division of Youth Services.

DSR officer Elias Rangamar said the weeklong day camp would feature lessons on dance, music, arts and crafts, hiking, swimming and canoeing.

The three-week sports camp, meanwhile, will expose participants to several sports including baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf, and the martial arts.

“In addition to giving kids something positive and affordable to do this summer, this camp also gives them an opportunity to learn and develop skills in these sports,” said Rangamar, who is one of the coordinators of the event.

The sports and day camp will be held weekdays from 8am to 11:30am. Registration costs $20 and includes insurance coverage.

Registration forms are available at the Division of Youth Services and the Division of Sports and Recreation.
