Contest on to pull a 145K-lb plane
Think you can pull a 145,000-lb plane?
If you are up to the challenge, then you—and your team—should sign up for the unique Plane Pull competition that would be held on July 10 at the Saipan International Airport.
The event, sponsored by the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter, Continental Micronesia, and the Commonwealth Ports Authority, is open to businesses in the CNMI, particularly those involved in the transportation industry.
Teams consisting of 20 members must pay an entrance fee of $750, payable as a donation to the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter. Participation is limited to 20 teams.
Each team will compete to determine who can pull a Continental Micronesia 737 the fastest over a distance of 12 feet. The aircraft stretches 129 feet long, is 41 feet high, and 20 feet wide.
The event begins at 9pm, with registration starting as early at 7:30pm.
“This unique event, originally launched in 2001 during the 25th anniversary of the Saipan International Airport, is a great opportunity to support the Red Cross while promoting team building excellence for your staff and management,” a statement from Red Cross read. “The NMI Chapter works closely with CPA and all involved in the transportation industry during disasters. The American Red Cross is part of the U.S. government Federal Aviation Disaster Response Plan and plays a critical role in providing assistance to victims and their families after an aviation or ship accident.”
