UFO starts cage league with seminar
The 2004 season of the United Filipino Organization Basketball League is scheduled to kick off on June 20 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
But before basketball action starts, UFO is requiring all team managers and coaches to attend a seminar on league rules and regulations scheduled this Friday, June 11, 6:30pm at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Nauru Building.
The seminar will tackle the updated FIBA rules and will be conducted by veteran referee Ricky Itaas.
League officer Ronald Pamintuan said a total of 12 teams have so far confirmed participation for the competition, which is now running in its fifth year.
The participating teams are led by defending champion Visminda, last year’s runner-up RP-Cabalen, three-time champion SIP-Verizon, Laguna, Cavite, Bayani, MDX, Bartenders Association, LIPS, Mover, Bicol, and Power.
He said the league’s opening ceremony, set to get underway beginning 2pm on June 20, would once again be spiced up by the Best Muse and Best Uniform competitions.
The UFO basketball League will be played every Saturday and Sunday. There will be two games on the Saturday schedule with the first beginning at 6pm, while three games are set for Sunday with the earliest at 2pm.
