WOMAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED THEFT OF CAR

The Department of Public Safety arrested an 18-year-old woman for allegedly stealing a vehicle from the Luen Fung Enterprises compound in Gualo Rai early yesterday morning.

According to DPS public information officer Thomas A. Blas Jr., the suspect, Arjeth T. Silva, was allegedly seen by an employee of the establishment just before the incident occurred.

“It was learned through preliminary investigation of Traffic Officer Jarrod Manglona [that] an employee was in the kitchen cooking when she heard someone knocking on her door. She looked out and saw the suspect trying to open several doors of the store. She then called her employer and a co-worker and reported what she had seen,” said Blas.

Blas said that as the employee was reporting the matter, she saw the vehicle, a champagne 2003 Lexus GX470 SUV with license plate number ABY-888, being driven out of the compound, heading south on Middle Road.

“An all-points bulletin was given out on the stolen vehicle and at about 1:53am, the vehicle was spotted by Officer Manglona heading north on Beach Road Susupe at high speed,” he said.

A car chase ensued. The vehicle was finally stopped along 16th Highway, San Jose.

“Further investigation at the scene confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was the same suspect that was seen at the Luen Fung compound earlier. She was alone in the vehicle and was arrested for theft of vehicle,” Blas said.

The suspect was then taken to the Adult Correctional Facility where she was booked and detained.

MAN CAUGHT ALLEGEDLY STEALING AMPLIFIER

A man found himself behind bars Monday afternoon after being caught allegedly stealing an amplifier system at the Millennium Plaza in Garapan.

Police report said that the suspect, 33-year-old Ignacio T. Ruan, was caught by the owner and staff of the building.

Preliminary investigation by Patrol Officer Catherine Pangelinan showed that the day before the incident, the suspect had been seen coming down from the second floor of the building, an area that is off limits to anyone aside from staff.

The suspect was again seen by a staff the next day on the third floor. Ruan allegedly was running down the staircase with the amplifier system.

“He was caught on the first floor and the police were called,” said DPS public information officer Thomas A. Blas Jr. “Further investigation at the scene revealed that one of the rooms on the third floor and a storage room as well had been broken into.”

The suspect was arrested at the scene and brought to the Adult Correctional Facility where he was detained. He was charged with burglary and theft.
