Health, environment workshop next month
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in collaboration with the Hawaii Department of Health and Hawaii hospital and medial association partners, will host a workshop in Hawaii next month aimed at helping healthcare facilities incorporate pollution prevention solutions that would minimize environmental impacts while saving money and maintaining high standards of patient care.
According to a statement, the workshop, dubbed as the Pollution Prevention Workshop for the Healthcare Industry, will be held on July 8-9 at the Honolulu Shriners Hospital in Oahu.
To be discussed are issues on mercury elimination, environmental preferable purchasing, green building, microfiber mops, minimizing the use of glutaraldehyde, pharmaceutical waste disposal, mold prevention and cleanup, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance.
On hand for the workshop are experts from the EPA Pacific Southwest Region, local regulatory agencies and local hospitals, who will be presenting real-life experiences, practical technical information, and useful tools to help implement change.
