Pedestrian killed after being hit by two cars
An auto-pedestrian incident early Sunday morning proved fatal for a 48-year-old man who was hit twice by two cars.
Manuel K. Rabauliman reportedly suffered serious head and bodily injuries.
According to Department of Public Safety public information officer Thomas A. Blas Jr., the incident occurred at about 3:49am along Middle Road Chalan Lau Lau by Shirley’s Coffee Shop.
“It was learned through at-scene investigation by TIU Sgt. Anthony Macaranas that the victim crossed the road walking from the eastbound shoulder toward the west side by Shirley’s Coffee Shop,” he said. “From the impact, the victim was thrown into the inner southbound lane in which a vehicle heading south also struck the victim.”
The victim was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center where he was pronounced dead at 4:33am.
“Traffic investigators are still working on the case and as of this time have not made a determination as to the cause of the crash,” Blas said. “Weather conditions may be a factor in the case due to Tropical Storm Tingting.
Further, Blas said the victim “may be intoxicated as analysis at CHC indicate the presence of alcohol in his blood system.”
Blas said the two vehicles involved in the incident have been impounded pending further investigation. He described the first vehicle as a white 2000 Mitsubishi Montero with license plate number ABO-520 and the second vehicle as a black 1994 Toyota Supra with license plate number ABP-251.
