The Northern Marianas College’s Future Leaders of the CNMI Project Life group recently gathered at the college’s business building to celebrate their last day with friends and coordinators of the program.

Rosario Hocog, David Attao, Polly Omechelang, Dawn Kenney, and Bonnie Royal coordinated the Camp Life and Project Life program for the kids. Instructors included various people from the community.

Project Life involved the kids attending workshops dealing with leadership and stress management. Project Life is made up of 14 kids aged 12-14. The Camp Life Program, on the other hand, was intended for kids to gain experience in team building, entrepreneurship, and creative exploration. Camp Life consists of 10 kids with ages 6-11.

Both camps were originally set to conclude last week but were extended because of two days lost due to Typhoon Tingting.

As a result of the children’s positive feedback, and involvement in a variety of activities, the coordinators added new programs for the kids.

Johnna Lubuguin, who participated in Project Life, was recognized as Outstanding Volunteer. The Outstanding Leadership award was presented to Jesse A. Deleon Guerrero.

“I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful experience; it was fun,” said Deleon Guerrero.

According to Community Development Institute program coordinator Dawn Chrystal Kenney, the Camp Life children were expected to receive their certificates. Unfortunately, seven children under the program for Camp Life are currently off island. (with Cassie DLG Fejeran)
