House donates to DLNR
The House leadership donated various cleaning materials to the Department of Lands and Natural Resources in response to calls for assistance.
House spokesperson Charles Reyes said the cleaning materials were donated yesterday morning at the House chamber and were presented to Tony Benavente of the DLNR during a brief ceremony.
Reyes said House Floor Leader Oscar Babauta led other members of the House leadership in donating the cleaning equipment. The donation is to help the DLNR in its ongoing cleanup activities around the island, particularly after the onslaught of Typhoon Tingting.
Reyes said that the DLNR, along with other agencies like the Department of Public Works and several volunteer-students, have been all over the islands since last week to conduct repair and restoration activities.
Because of these ongoing cleanup activities, the House saw the opportunity not only to commend the group for its relentless effort to clean the island but also to extend them help in the form of the equipment.
“These people have been going around the island to clean public places and the House leadership would like to donate some things to them and to acknowledge their efforts,” said the spokesperson.
