KRNM, the public radio station located at Northern Marianas College, said that one of its two frequencies will be off the air until mid-July, due to damage from recent weather conditions.

The 89.1 FM translator, which is located on Mt. Topochau, was hit by lightning last week. “Replacement parts have been ordered and will hopefully arrive and be installed in a week. Repairs will also have to be made to the receive antenna on the tower, which was dislodged by gusts from Typhoon Tingting,” said the station in a statement.

During the outage to 89.1 FM, listeners are encouraged to tune in to the campus frequency whenever possible, which broadcasts National Public Radio programming, as well as locally produced and hosted shows, 24 hours a day at 88.1 FM.

Program information can be obtained at the station’s website www.krnm.org
