Big Leaguers top RP, Seniors fall to Guam

The CNMI all-star teams in the Big League and Senior League division made their debuts in the Asia-Pacific Tournament in Guam Sunday.

The Big League All-Stars got off on the right foot blasting the Philippines, 7-3, at Agana’s Paseo Stadium.

The Senior League All-Stars were not as fortunate though as they fell to Guam, 6-7, at the same venue. The Commonwealth’s Junior League All-Stars also lost with the same score to the islands’ southern neighbors on Saturday.

Members of the CNMI Big League All-Stars are Sam Babauta, Ben Salas, BJ Ser Nicolas, JP Sablan, John Tudela, Jonathan Villagomez, Luis Iguel, Ben Jones, Ricky Jones, Sylvestre Tomokane, Leroy Kani, Jack Lizama, and Jesse Agulto

Faustino Camacho is serving as the team’s manager, while acting as coaches are Greg Camacho and Robert Bansil,

The CNMI Junior League All-Stars, on the other hand, is made up of Derrick Babauta, Oliver Secharmidal, Antione Allen, Tony Palacios, Franco Flores, Ben Tasikan, Tyrone Omar, Dan Concepcion, Jeff Saures, Zachary Concepcion, Derrick Babauta, Jesse Garcia, Thomas Guerrero, Manny Ada, and Peter Tenorio

The team is managed by former Oleai Elementary School principal and local golf great Jess Wabol. Head coach of the Seniors is Roy Celis.

Other results Sunday saw host Guam drub Jakarta, 18-7, in the Junior League division. The CNMI Junior League All-Stars were playing the Indonesian team as of press time. The winner of the second round match will advance to the finals opposite Guam.

The CNMI Junior League All-Stars will go up against the Philippines today in a make-up game for Saturday’s rained out match. The CNMI Big League All-Stars will also see action this morning opposite host Guam in another make-up game.
