Top lady player Rosemarie Moses-Arnold and veteran cue artist Boyet Sequioco ruled the green felt table last week at Round Two Bar and Grill in Garapan.

Moses-Arnold was simply unbeatable in the pioneering sports bar’s 4th of July celebrations two Sundays ago.

After getting a bye in the first round, Moses-Arnold went to work against Simon Kapileo and advanced to meet Charlie Peter.

She beat the burly basketball center and squared off against Nathan Peter for the twice-to-beat advantage in the championship round.

Moses-Arnold relegated Nathan to losers bracket play and then met up with him again in the championship when Nathan hurdled Charlie in the semis.

The rematch went like their first match with Moses-Arnold winning the game and lining her pockets with the $40 winner-take-all prize.

Nathan and Charlie had only bragging rights to show for their runner-up and third place finishes.

Other pool players that participated in the Liberation Day competition were Donald Kapileo, Jean Navarro, and Mike Cohen.

On Thursday, Sequioco reclaimed the Miller Lite Invitational 8-Ball Tournament after losing it to Jon Morris a week ago.

But unlike Moses-Arnold on Sunday, the Olangapo City, Philippines native had to rise from the ashes to win the championship.

Sequioco got his customary bye in the opening round before outplaying a player named simply as JR in his second trip.

Owen Rumley then ended Sequioco’s dreams of an undefeated run when Rumley upset the crafty veteran in the third round.

Sequioco went back to the drawing board in losers bracket. With his back against the wall he dropped Sunday’s deposed champ Bert Mettao before advancing to the semis with a win over Larry Guerrero.

Paired opposite Richard Celestino for the right to face Rumley in the finals, Sequioco brought out his “A” game and set up a rematch with the winners bracket topnotcher for all the night’s marbles.

Sequioco proved wiser in his second game against Rumley as he won the first game and the rubber match to hoist the evening’s championship. He took home $70 for the win, while Rumley and Celestino settled for the $40 and $25 runner-up prizes.

Tony Martinez, Kippy Aiken, and John Salas also saw action in the Thursday night 8-ball event.

Sequioco won two consecutive Thursday night 8-ball tournaments before Morris snapped his streak last July 1.

Round Two hosts three regular tournaments a week. The Sunday Winner-Take-All Fun Tournament starts at 1pm and entry costs is $5 per player. Depending on the number of lady participants, the competition switches from regular to an 8-ball handicap format.

The Tuesday Ladies Handicap 8-Ball Tournament is held every Tuesday starting at 8pm and has an entry fee of $10.

On Thursdays, Round Two holds the exciting Miller Lite Invitational 8-Ball Tournament starting at 8pm. Entry fee is $15 on regular days but goes up to $25 every last Thursday of the month.
