ACS 2, MHS lead brackets in HS badminton
Agape Christian School Torchbearers team 2 and Marianas High School Dolphins led their respective brackets in the season opener of the NMBA-PSS Co-ed High School Interscholastic Badminton League 2023-2024 last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
ACS 2 led Bracket 1 with a perfect 10 points after slaying Saipan Southern High School 2 in all five events—men’s doubles, women’s singles, men’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, for five points. They swept Tinian High School as well for another five points.
MHS 1 is second place with five points; THS is third at four points; Grace Christian Academy 2 has one point; and SSHS 2 is scoreless.
ACS 2 is made up of Jessica Chen, Ulrica Wang, Esther Zhao, Nancy Tian, Aaron Zheng, Louis Chen, Stanley Zhang, and Caleb Cui.
In Bracket 2, MHS 2 is in the lead with nine points as they swept Kagman High School in all five events for five points, and gathered four points from Saipan International School 2.
A close second is SSHS 1 with eight points; SIS 2 has two points; ACS 1 has one; and KHS 2 is scoreless.
MHS 2 consists of Isa Nishitani, Nichole Llaga, Emma Quan, Genelyn Lansangan, Darren Tabora, Jan Dumagan, Justin Gragasin, and Elijah Umali.
MHS 3 is on top of Bracket 3 with eight points after they claimed five points from Dr. Rita H. Inos High School, and three points from Grace Christian Academy 1.
GCA 1 is in second place at five points; KHS 1 has four points; SIS 1 has two points; and Dr. Rita H. Inos High School has one point.
MHS 3 includes Tara Islam, Angela Maratas, Angieleysha Punzalan, Zannobi Naomi, John Paul Delos Reyes, Benedict Martinez, and John Casauran.
