Agape fires thru Bracket 1 and 2 in co-ed tourney
Agape Christian School Torchbearers used their firepower to land on top of Bracket 1 and 2 in the 2024-2025 PSS-NMBA Interscholastic Co-ed Middle School Badminton League last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
After three days of round-robin matches, the Torchbearers 2 leads Bracket 1 with 14 points and wins to pull ahead of Saipan International School Geckos 1 who are at 13 points. Tinian Jr. High School Stallions galloped to third place with 10 points; Hopwood Middle School Hilitais 2 are right behind at nine; Saipan Community School Guardians are at five; and Dandan Middle School Tottots 1 are at four points.
ACS swept both of their matches against DMS and TJHS. The Torchbearers blazed through the boys/girls singles, boys/girls doubles, and mixed doubles for five points in both games with a total of 10 points for the day.
The Torchbearers 1 also lead Bracket 2 with 14 points. Grace Christian Academy Eagles 1 are a point behind at 13; SIS 2 is third at eight; HMS 1 are at five; and Chacha Ocean View Middle School Lancherus have yet to win at zero points.
ACS continued their dominance as they swept their matches against COVMS and HMS 1. The Torchbearers were on fire as they collected wins in the boys/girls singles, boys/girls doubles, and mixed doubles for five points in both games with a total of 10 points for the day.
ACS 1 consists of Elim Luo, Rebecca Wu, Andy Chen, Benjamin Cai, Tom Chen, and team 2 is made up of Tina Hu, Angel Hu, Daniel Huang, Lucas Yang, Scott Li, and Scott Shi.
The final round-robin day of games is on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Top 6 double-elimination round is on Nov. 23, with the championship rounds on Nov. 29.
