‘All clear’ at Hopwood

Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School lifted the shelter-in-place protocol and declared an “all clear” at 12:15pm today after a male student allegedly threatened peers with a handgun in the restroom earlier in the day.

According to the Department of Public Safety, police detectives later identified the suspect and recovered an air-type toy pistol from his residence. The student, who was released to his parents, is currently under investigation as authorities assess the situation further.
