Alliana’s win 2 in a row

Alliana’s has won two in a row in the Win Pacific Invitational Basketball League 2024 Semi Open Division.

They won via their second game in a blowout, 99-69, over Lakay last Saturday at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court.

It was a back-and-forth first quarter as both teams tried to get the better of the other. Lakay and Alliana’s were both looking for their second win in as many games.

It was a game of who wanted it most as Alliana’s starting five all contributed and pulled away from Lakay toward the end of the first quarter. Vinz Rodriguez put up a 3 followed by 2 points by Ariel Moises to secure a 6-point 23-17 lead at the end of the first.

The second quarter was still a close game as Lakay’s Rodell Pastrana and Joseph Torres were a duo that tore up the court. Pastrana used his height while Torres used his speed to keep them close, 29-35.

The second half, however, saw a change of pace as Alliana’s began to convert more attempts, while Lakay’s offense broke down. At the end of the third, Alliana’s lead exploded into a huge 20-point margin, 65-45.

It was too little too late for Lakay to play catch up in the last quarter as Alliana’s Ray Singca, Jude Tengco, Jobert Meriales, and Mark Demonteverde bore down on them with hustle plays and more accurate takes at the basket. Lakay failed to manufacture points and succumbed to a 30-point loss, 69-99.

Singca led Alliana’s with 25 points, while Jude Tengco contributed 18, and Meriales scored 12. On the other hand, Pastrana had a game high 29 markers, Torres scored 13, and Renren Gaviola and Daryll Foronda put up twin 10 points.

In the other game that day, SMJ beat Alsa Baso, 73-69.
