BOG wins 3 Banky awards

HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Bank of Guam has been recognized among the top extraordinary banks in the United States by The Institute for Extraordinary Banking, winning three major awards. Bank of Guam received the Institute’s Banky Award for its commitment to strong community banking. This recognition is given to top community banks across the country to help people find the best banks in their communities.

Bank of Guam received the Bank Award in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, Bank of Guam won the 2024 Money Smarts BankyAward for Financial Literacy Education and the BanksGiving Banky Award for Philanthropy. Money Smarts Banky Award for Financial Literacy Bank of Guam was recognized for its sustainability and social impact programs focused on financial literacy and financial empowerment throughout the island community. Thousands of hours were dedicated toward helping residents take control of their financial future, no matter their stage in life—from Guam’s public and private schools, faith-based groups, government housing and senior centers, cultural governments, government agencies, private businesses, and community events. Bank of Guam also won this award in 2023.

BanksGiving Banky Award for Philanthropy Bank of Guam was recognized for the various community partnerships and causes supported throughout the year. One of the highlighted causes is the bank’s signature event, the Hagåtña City Run & Block Party. Through this event, thousands of dollars were raised toward the fight against cancer, made possible through sponsorships, race registration, vendor pledges, beer garden and merchandise sales, and team registrations. Additionally, the bank’s post-Typhoon Mawar recovery efforts were recognized including fundraising initiatives, donating of facilities, and food donations.

“These awards reflect our deep commitment to the people of Guam and our belief in the power of community. Every day, we work alongside our neighbors to strengthen our islands. Whether it’s through the Hagåtña City Run & Block Party or our efforts to support recovery after Typhoon Mawar, we are driven by a simple idea that when we come together, we can achieve amazing things. Meanwhile, financial empowerment is more than just a goal for us – it’s a promise. We want every resident to feel confident in their financial future, no matter what their starting point. This recognition inspires us to keep pushing forward, building on our founder’s vision, and ensuring that everyone in our community has the tools and support they need to succeed,” said BOG president and CEO Joaquin P. L.G. Cook.
