Baby Geckos remain atop ES cross country qualifier
The elementary boys and girls cross country team of Saipan International School remain the top runners in the second PSS/NMA All School Cross Country 2023-2024 qualifier last Saturday at the American Memorial Park.
SIS came in first in the boys division with a total of 27 points, followed by San Vicente Elementary School with 39 points; Brilliant Star School had 55; Mount Carmel School had 71; Agape Christian School had 89; Saipan Community School had 93; Grace Christian Academy School with 136; Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School with 161; and Oleai Elementary School with 163.
In the individual standings, SIS’ Jeffrey Pangelinan finished first with a time of 06:32.50; second was Grace Christian Academy’s Beau Bauer with a time of 06:33.75; and third was San Vicente Elementary School’s Byron Cruz at 06:36.83.
SIS also led the girls team standings with a total of 18 points. MCS was second with 61; BSS with 63; GTC with 90; GCA with 114; SCS with 114; SVES with 137; OES with 143; and William S. Reyes Elementary School with 162.
In the individual standings. BSS’ Lovell Spaeth finished first with a time of 06:32.75; SIS’s Kaylen Taflinger and Windsor Gross came in second and third at 06:41.87 and 07:11.39.
In the middle school division, the Lady Geckos trumped everyone else by a mile with 16 points; second was MCS at 64; GCA was third with 60.
ACS took first place in the middle school boys division with 19 points; SIS was second with 38; and Francisco M. Sablan Middle School was third with 56.
SIS’ Addalee Taflinger came in first at 12:53.30; SIS’ Aubrey White was second with 14:38.96; and third was MCS’ Cassidee Flores with a time of 14:53.50.
SIS’ Quido Jambor took first, ACS’ Raffy Cai was second, and ACS’ Daniely Yang came in third.
The next qualifier is the SIS Gecko 5000 at Banzai Cliff is on Saturday, Sept. 30; the Kagman High School Invitational at ChaCha Ocean View Middle School is on Oct. 7; and the championship is set for Oct. 14 at the Saipan Country Club at Saipan Vegas.
