Bauer, Spaeth, BSS sweep ES

From start to finish, two young speedsters and the Brilliant Star Montessori School cross-country team were the fastest in the elementary school division of the PSS/NMA All Schools Cross-Country 2024-2025 with a sweep of all four qualifiers.

Grace Christian Academy’s Beau Bauer and BSS’ Lovel Spaeth were the fastest elementary school runners in all four qualifiers and wrapped it up where it all began—at the CPA Airport Field on a sunny Saturday.

In the boys individual standings, Bauer ran a sub seven-minute mile at 6:47, while second was Saipan International School’s Gabriel Walsh at 7:15. Third was San Vicente Elementary School’s O’Marion Reyes who clocked in at the same time as Evan Poole of Garapan Elementary School at 7:22.

In the girls individual standings, Spaeth wrapped up the last qualifier with a time of 7:10. Second was Angela You of Agape Christian School at 7:56, while SIS’ Kaylen Taflinger was third at 7:58.

The team standings was topped by BSS once again and swept all four qualifiers.

The BSS boys wrapped it up with a score of 58, followed by SVES at 66. ACS was third with 74. In the girls division, BSS had the lowest and best score of 32, while Mount Carmel School was second at 40. Third was SIS at 49.

Dr. Ron Snyder, SIS headmaster and coach and meet director, said of BSS’ sweep, “BSS put forth a strong team this year with some real depth. It was very nice to see.”

On what he looks forward to in the championships, he said, “I look forward to some really great competition in the championships and hope to see the HS boys pushing each other to set new PRs and maybe even break 18 minutes.”

This race concludes the qualifier rounds of the season. The championship is set for this Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Saipan Country Club (Saipan Vegas) at 6:30am.

Results of the middle school divisions will be posted in the next issues of Saipan Tribune.
