Brewers let it pour, 19-13
The Brewers, one of the 2024 Saipan Baseball League Masters League’s newest teams, poured it on the league’s other newest team Falcons, 19-13, in their game last Thursday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
Despite a slow burn, the Brewers had a lot left on top towards the end of the game which left the Falcons reeling. The Falcons chugged at the same pace as the Brewers and were only behind by one at the end of the second, 3-4.
The Falcons then found themselves on top after a three-run third inning from Mario Aguon, Mike Guerrero, and Tony Pangelinan, but the Brewers got within one after Hector Efraim scored for a 5-6 game.
The Brewers pitching staff then brewed something special in the fourth inning as they didn’t allow any hits but allowed one runner on base from a hit-by-pitch. Their offense also crafted a dazzling display with their turn at the bat as they scored five runs to retake the lead, 10-6.
The Falcons weren’t knocked out yet and still had some fight left in them in the fifth and rounded the bases five times to swing the lead back into their favor, 11-10.
But it was bottoms up from there for the Brewers, as they churned an offensive rally that awakened all their bats once again. Eight runs would score and seesaw the game back to their side, 18-11.
The Falcons would go on to push across just two more runs in the sixth, while the Brewers posted a final run for a 19-13 final.
The Brewers leadoff batter, Cris George, went two-for-four at-bat, scored in two runs, and had two RBIs, while Jess Taitano helped the team by going two-for-two with one double, scoring one run, and hitting two runs in.
In last Friday’s game, the Blue Jays drowned the Marlins, 19-14.
Games are played every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 6:30pm. The postseason is slated for Feb. 10, 11, 17, and 18, with the best-of-three championship series on Feb. 24, 26, and 28 if needed.
