Comeback win for Falcons over Braves, 4-2
The Falcons have won two in a row as they came back to win over the Braves, 4-2, in the 2024 Tan Holdings-SBL last Tuesday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
It’s been a while since the Falcons touched the dirt of the diamond from their last game on opening night, but they still got their chemistry and skill intact as they bounced back from a two-run deficit early on.
The Braves just came off a no-hitter win last Wednesday and had their sights on keeping their momentum going. They struck first as the heart of their order Heath Camacho and Keoni Serrano scored two runs in the second inning.
However, that was all she wrote as Falcons pitcher A.J. Evangelista went on to pitch the rest of the game in a shutout. While the Braves scrambled to get runners on base and bring them home, the Falcons dug in and got on board with a run by leadoff batter Antonio Norita in the third inning.
Braves pitching held on in the fourth inning but it began to unravel as the Falcons tied it up, 2-2, in the fifth from a run by Ian Norita. The Braves have had only two base runners at this point, and their squeaky-clean record hung in the balance.
Then, the Falcons drew the death blow in the sixth inning when two players got on base from walks and went on to score as a result of faulty Braves defense and pitching. Heading into the last inning, the Falcons had a two-run, 4-2 lead and the Braves tried to rally, but to no avail.
The Braves were handed their first loss for a 2-1 record, while the Falcons secured their second win in as many games.
Last Monday, the Royals destroyed Blue Shark, 10-0. Last night, the Cardinals took on the Natives with the results to be posted in the next issue of Saipan Tribune.
