DMS, HMS notch wins in girls soccer

Dandan Middle School Tottots and Hopwood Middle School Hilitais notched wins in the continuation of the 2024-2025 NMIFA-PSS Girls Middle School Interscholastic Soccer League last Thursday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

The Tottots flew high against Tanapag Middle School Tatagas, 6-2.

Despite the Tatagas breaking the ice first in the fifth minute by Jade Pascual, the Tottots evened it up just a minute after from a goal by Elikristiana Iglecias.

Both teams then duked it out on the pitch without results until the 11th minute when DMS’ Talina Augon-McClure found the back of the net to put them up, 2-1. Aguon-McClure was on fire after that and completed the hat-trick by the 17th minute for a 4-1 lead.

DMS went on to score one more goal in the first half off of Iglecias, while the Tatagas were still mum.

Before TMS could even land their second goal of the game, Iglecias rolled in her hat-trick in the 31st minute for a 6-1 lead. Then, when it seemed like TMS would be silenced from there, Chelsea Santos got them on board in the 39th. However, it was too little too late for a comeback as time ran out, for a 6-2 DMS win.

In the game right after, the Hilitais bludgeoned Chacha Ocean View Middle School Lancherus, 16-0.

It was a goal-frenzy for HMS as COVMS fell to their knees in an effort to put a stop to it. In the first half, the Hilitais exuded confidence which they continued to show throughout the rest of the game.

Nine back-to-back goals would score right from the opening whistle as Princess Gariguez started the onslaught in the first minute. Two more goals would slip past COVMS’ keeper in the next three minutes, plus one more in the eighth by Angel Calayag.

A minute later, Elyza Brillo nipped the net for a quick 5-0 advantage. She would score the sixth goal just six minutes later. A goal by teammate Samantha Escarcha whizzed past in the 19th, then Brillo completed her hat-trick in the 23rd minute for an 8-0 lead. Brillo then collected her fourth goal just two minutes later.

The second half was the same story for HMS as they put up seven more unanswered goals. Hayven Moteisou completed her hat-trick in the 29th minute, while Alina Esakova completed hers by the 45th minute. Calayag, Alyza De Belen, and Aubyguel Castro contributed a goal apiece.

Finally, time expired and put the Lancherus out of their misery after a 0-16 barrage.

In the standings so far, Francisco M. Sablan Middle School Napu Riders and DMS have one win each; the Hilitais have a one win and one draw record; Saipan International School Lady Geckos have one draw; while TMS has one loss, and COVMS have two losses.
