DOC detainee escapes CHC

After eluding police at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School last week, Joey Maratita is now two for two after he reportedly escaped from under a Department of Corrections officer’s nose and has again evaded police.

In a press release from the Department of Public Safety, at approximately 8:06pm, DPS received a call reporting the escape of a detainee from the Commonwealth Health Center.

Maratita is the same man who was arrested last Friday for violating a temporary restraining order that caused the lockdown at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School.

Maratita escaped before police arrived last Jan. 17.

According to reports, Maratita fled on foot while receiving medical treatment.

The Department of Corrections and DPS officers are currently searching for Maratita.

He was last seen heading southbound by Shirley’s Coffee Shop in Garapan, wearing a hospital gown.
