DPS faces another unsolved burglary
The Department of Public Safety is once again seeking the community’s help in solving a burglary and theft incident, this time at the Sip and Smile Shop along Pale Arnold in Chalan Lau Lau, that was reported yesterday.
DPS assistant chief of police and acting spokesperson Simon T. Manacop said the department is again calling for the community’s help in solving this latest incident.
According to Manacop, the incident was reported at about 10:18am on Thursday, Oct. 19. Officers noted that the Sip and Smile Shop closed at 7pm the night before so the incident happened later.
Preliminary investigation found that an employee arrived at the store to open for business and saw the mess behind the cash register counter.
The employee later discovered that the rear door to the establishment had been forced open and the window of a room in the back of the store had been shattered.
Among the items stolen were assorted cigarettes and vape products with an estimated total value of $2,000.
No arrest has been made in this case as of press time.
“DPS seeks the community’s assistance in putting closure to this case. If anyone has information about this incident, please call the DPS Criminal Investigation Division at 670-664-9042, DPS headquarters at 670-664-9001 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 670-234-7272 if they wish to remain anonymous. DPS also encourages the public to call the emergency line 911 to report a crime or emergency,” Manacop said.
Prior to this incident, DPS saw a string of robberies in San Antonio, Garapan, and Capital Hill and is on the hunt for two of three people who participated in robbing a man at gunpoint in a San Antonio beach last Sunday.
It was at the San Antonio robbery where a man was held at gunpoint.
In the Capital Hill robbery, two men allegedly broke into a residence in the early hours of Oct. 15 where an 84-year-old man was sleeping.
The two men, described as masked men, allegedly held the elderly man at knife-point and rummaged his house and were able to steal about $650 and some personal items.
