DPS to conduct sobriety checkpoints today
In a coordinated effort to keep Saipan’s roads safe during Halloween celebrations, the Department of Public Safety has launched a series of sobriety checkpoints this week. These checkpoints, part of a collaboration with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving” and “If You Feel Different, You Drive Different” campaigns, are scheduled for Oct. 30 and 31, 2024.
The DPS Highway Patrol Section established checkpoints on Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Chalan Kiya from 7pm to 9pm and Chalan Pale Arnold Chalan Lau Lau from 9pm to 11:30pm yesterday. Tonight, Oct. 31, officers will be stationed along Beach Road Garapan from 7pm to 9pm and on Chalan Monsignor Martinez As Lito from 9pmto 11:30 pm.
In addition to these checkpoints, DPS will intensify patrols and traffic enforcement throughout Halloween night. These measures aim to protect the community, especially children participating in Halloween festivities.
