Decomposing body found in Garapan

A dead body was discovered in a shack by the beach just behind an online remittance building in Garapan yesterday afternoon.

According to the Department of Public Safety, they received a call around 12:41pm reporting a body found at an advanced state of decomposition.

According to DPS assistant chief of police and acting public information officer Simon T. Manacop, the body belonged to a Filipino male, but the Criminal Investigation Bureau is still working on positive identification.

Manacop shared that DPS learned from a witness that she arrived at the two-story building just behind RJ Liquor to clean and smelled foul odor.

“She followed scent and found the body behind the building,” he said.

Manacop shared that DPS learned that the deceased was last seen and reportedly made contact with a witness four days ago. He also added that DPS learned that the deceased was residing in the shack he was found in. As of now the cause of death is undetermined.

The case remains open as investigators continue to gather additional evidence. DPS also encourages anyone with information that will help the case to come forward.
