Dewey is back in Indiana

Media outlets in Fort Wayne, Indiana have reported that Charles Lee Dewey III, alias Allen Widmor, has already arrived in Allen County, officially completing the extradition process that started earlier this year.

Dewey, who is facing multiple sexual assault and rape charges in Fort Wayne, Indiana, officially returned to Allen County about three weeks ago and will remain detained in the Allen County jail pending further court proceedings.

According to Allen County Sheriff Troy Hershberger, Dewey was the farthest suspect they ever had to track down. The last individual the Allen County Sherriff’s department had to track down was back in the ’90s and he never made it as far as Dewey did. A quick Google search says the distance between Indiana and Saipan is 7,393 miles (11,897.88 km)

In addition, Hershberger notes that the cost to extradite Dewey from Saipan back to Indiana could be about $31,000; they have yet to receive the official numbers.

Last Feb. 28, Allen County Sheriff’s Department representatives arrived on Saipan to escort Dewey. Saipan Tribune learned they officially left the island on Feb. 29.

Dewey, who has been going by the alias Widmor since he fled the state of Indiana to Saipan back in 2022, was arrested last Jan. 26 at the Kagman Community Health Center where he was working. When confronted, Dewey allegedly admitted to officers his real name and he was immediately arrested. He was charged with one count of fugitive from justice and was booked and detained at the Department of Corrections.

According to court documents, Dewey fled Indiana where he has over six outstanding arrest warrants on multiple cases involving rape, sexual misconduct with minors, sexual battery, child solicitation, possession of child pornography, dissemination of matter harmful to a minor, and more.

The charges against Dewey date as far back as 2020.

During a status conference last Feb. 14, Dewey upheld his innocence, stating he is the victim in all these accusations.
