Dodgers shut down Reds, 21-1

The Dodgers tipped their record to the win column, 3-2, after they shut down the Reds, 21-1, last Thursday in the 2023 Tan Holdings-SBL Master’s League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The rain was on and off and throughout the night that the game ended early in the fourth inning and handed the win to the Dodgers.

The Dodgers came soaring out of the batter’s box and didn’t let the evening drizzle dampen their game as they hit home 12 runs. They pummeled Reds starting pitcher Henry Reyes from the top of their lineup, to the end, as the Reds’ defense also floundered.

Leadoff batter Kalle Igisomar started the assault with a run after back-to-back Reds errors, allowing also James Benavente to score home after him. Derek Aguon hit a single and passed balls and a wild pitch then brought him and Richard Quitugua home.

The barrage continued as the middle to the end of the lineup scored, while Igisomar and Aguon scored again before the final out could be made for a 12-0 game.

The Reds’ only run was in the first inning after Justin Reyes scored. In the next three innings, the Reds’ lineup was retired by Dodgers pitcher Jeff Cruz in order via groundouts and five strikeouts.

The Dodgers’ Aguon and Glen Camacho were the star of the game as Aguon went three for four hits, had one RBI, and hit one double, while Camacho also went three-for-four hits, scored one run, and collected three RBis.

The season will resume in January, with the championship series slated for Feb. 19, Feb. 21, and Feb. 23.
