Early voting begins for Rota special election

The early voting period for Rota’s special election to fill the island’s recently vacated spot on the Board of Education has officially begun and will end next week.

Yesterday, the Commonwealth Election Commission officially opened early voting for Rota’s special election to fill the island’s vacant seat on the board of education.

The early voting period will last until Aug. 13, followed by the special election on Aug. 14.

“This is to inform all Precinct 7 voters that pursuant to 1 CMC §6222 and §6224, the 2024 Special Election Early Voting period for the 1st Senatorial District of Rota, will commence on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and end on Tuesday Aug. 13,” said the CEC.

The election district’s early voting place will be at the Rota-DPS Command Building in Songsong Village.

The polling place will open at 8:30am and close at 4pm each day, including weekends and holidays.

In addition, pursuant to 1 CMC § 6105 ©, the CEC announces the designated polling places for the upcoming Aug. 14, special Eeection will be at the Rota-NMC Room B-1 (main entrance).

The polling place for the special election will open at 7am and close at 7pm.

“As mandated by 1 CMC §6218, voters must ensure that they bring with them a pictured ID as they will be required to present it in order to be issued a ballot at the polls. For more information, please contact the Commonwealth Election Commission at 235-8683(VOTE),” said CEC.
