Garapan Restaurant Café and Grill’s healthier plate for a healthier you
In the hustle and bustle of today’s world, planning, cooking and even eating a hearty and nutritious meal has become a tedious task with many resorting to fast food to satisfy our hunger.
Those days may finally be over for those of us who still prefer home-cooked meals over the usual cheeseburger, chicken nuggets and fries with the introduction of Garapan Restaurant Café and Grill’sHealthy Meals.
Known for its cuisine that masterfully blends the flavors of Japan and the island and their refreshing beverages, Garapan Restaurant Café and Grill is now offering a meal prep service that is both nutritious and affordable.
“At our restaurant, we have consistently done our utmost to offer meals that embody this balance. Our dishes are thoughtfully crafted to include a combination of vegetables, protein, and carbohydrates, ensuring a well-rounded and nutritious dining experience,” said chef and owner Ken Tanzawa.
Built around a base of fresh ingredients, Garapan Restaurant’s Healthy Meals feature a low sodium/lean meal plan that embodies the balance and health-giving benefits that Japanese cuisine is known for. These personalized meal plans cater to the unique goals of each customer.
“Whether the aim is weight loss, weight maintenance, or muscle gain, we are dedicated to meeting the nutritional needs of every person by carefully selecting and preparing ingredients,” said Tanzawa.
Healthy Meals cost just $99 for a total of nine meals—three meals for three days. That translates to just $11 per meal. The menu consists of a serving of chicken, salmon/local mahi-mahi for protein, mixed vegetables, potato, or sweet potato.
“Our aim is to support individuals in their journey toward a healthier lifestyle. Whether you’re an athlete or a senior citizen, anyone who desires to shed pounds, maintain a healthy weight, or build muscle while ensuring the body receives an optimal amount of essential nutrients is welcome,” Tanzawa said.
The meal prep service came about after Tanzawa’s current jujitsu student sought his help in creating a meal plan to help prepare for competitions.
“In our fast-paced world, we noticed that our own eating habits were becoming unhealthy. Juggling the demands of cooking for our customers left us drained by the time we had to prepare meals for ourselves,” he said.
Rising food costs coupled with the limited number of healthy dining venues on the island were more than enough reasons for Tanzawa to venture into offering this meal prep service.
Tanzawa’s goal is to make Heathy Meals the affordable, convenient and healthier choice for local families and the community.
“Overall, sticking to a well- planned meal regimen promotes a healthier lifestyle while allowing an individual to achieve nutritional balance. It also simplifies the process of making nutritious food choices.”
Tanzawa says the benefits of a well-balanced diet includes:
∙ Consistency: Eliminating the guesswork and potential for unhealthy food choices ensures consistency in consuming balanced and nutritious meals.
∙ Weight management: With portion control and a variety of nutrient-dense foods, managing calorie intake and achieving weight loss or maintenance goals becomes easier.
∙ Nutritional balance: A balanced intake of essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats helps support overall health, boosts energy levels, and improves bodily functions.
∙ Time-saving: Preparing meals in advance is not just a time saver but also helps one avoid last-minute decisions about what to eat. This can minimize stress and makes it easier to stick to one’s dietary goals.
∙ Improved portion control: Following a meal plan can help in the development of healthier eating habits, including better portion control. This can prevent overeating and promote a more mindful approach to food consumption.
∙ Enhanced performance: For athletes or individuals focused on fitness goals, a well-planned meal plan can provide the necessary nutrients to optimize performance, enhance recovery, and support muscle growth.
Tanzawa believes the time is right to support fitness and wellness, which a well-balanced and nutritious diet offers.
“The time for change has arrived. …As we step into the new year, there couldn’t be a more perfect opportunity to embark on a journey toward improved health and well-being. Investing in your own health is the ideal way to start the year off strong,” he said.
