Giving Thanks for Democracy
Inspired by William Shakespeare’s sonnet CXVI, it has a famous rhyming couplet at the end that inspired me to write three or four other parodies:
“If this be error and upon me prov’d
I never writ, nor no man ever lov’d.”
Constitutional Sentiments and Impediments
Let us not divide the elemental tie that binds
or deny it and cut the fabric of democracy
which boggles and befuddles MAGA minds
as they wallow in delusion and conspiracy
Oh yes! Strength comes when we do our best
our United States Constitution will not be shaken
its worth is priceless, its truths are well taken
our Founding Fathers compromised without rest
Over time lies do not fool and truth will leak out
common sense grows by minutes days and weeks
through truth’s hourglass grains of truth seeks
inside the hour of truth justice comes no doubt
If I am mistaken allow me to drink my own puke
Let conspiracy theorists try to make their rebuke.
