Green Meadow School hosts successful Parent Summit

Green Meadow School proudly hosted its annual Parent Summit on May 20, 2024, at the Royal Taga Hall in the Saipan World Resort. The event, which began at 5pm, aimed to provide parents with valuable resources and insights into supporting their children’s educational and mental well-being.

The summit featured notable guest speakers, including Evelyn Pangelinan from CHCC’s Community Guidance Center-System of Care office. Pangelinan delivered an enlightening presentation on “Mental Health 101,” offering parents essential information on recognizing and addressing mental health concerns in their children and themselves.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Tai Doram, affectionately known as “Coach Tai,” captivated the audience with a heartfelt and inspiring talk titled “You Are Not Alone.” Doram’s wise advice and encouragement resonated deeply with the parents, emphasizing the importance of community support and resilience.

In addition to the insightful presentations, the event included a variety of engaging activities organized by the assistant principals and PTSA officers. The assistant principals prepared an engaging ice breaker; parents gathered in groups around pictures of animals they believe represented their personality and traits, new relationships and friendships were formed as parents shared what they felt they had in common. The activity prepared by the PTSA officers asked parents to look to the future of the school asking them what their expectations for the new school year are and how they can contribute to achieving them.

A highlight of the evening was the surprise raffle conducted by the dedicated staff of Green Meadow School. The raffle added an element of excitement and fun to the summit, leaving attendees with smiles and a sense of camaraderie.

The school board presented a certificate of appreciation and recognition for the efforts of all the PTSA representatives that evening.

Principal Milagros Songcuan expressed her gratitude to all the speakers, organizers, and attendees for making the Parent Summit a resounding success. The evening was closed out by PTSA president Marvin Buston.
