JKPL says thanks for successful Japanese exchange program
Joeten-Kiyu Public Library expressed its appreciation yesterday for the successful completion of its Japanese exchange program, which brought together 11 students from Japan and six students from the CNMI last July 27, 2023.
The students participated in a variety of activities, which included the following: Chamorro read aloud; library tour focusing on the Pacific Collection; do-it-yourself STEM activity: the science of ice cream making; dancing and a local food demonstration.
“We are grateful to the Saipan Mayor’s Office for including the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in this Exchange Program,” library director Erlinda C. Naputi said. “This program was a great opportunity for our students to learn about each other’s cultures and to make new friends. We hope that this program will continue in the future.”
Special thank you to the Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and the Northern Marianas Library Association for sponsoring this event.
This project was made possible in part by the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Grant. (PR)
