Kanoa, Shirley’s teams prevail in TakeCare youth soccer

Kanoa Football Club and Shirley’s FC teams defeated their foes in Week 2 of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2023 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Saturday.

In the U12 boys division, Kanoa blanked Paire, 6-0. Kanoa set the tone of the match early on, with a quick goal by Izaiah Tenorio just a minute in. Teammate Aldric Antonio found it in his possession right after and made it 2-0 in the third minute. Antonio then nipped it in again in the 9th minute, for a 3-0 lead.

Paire was silent throughout the first half and tried to change it up in the second half. However, attempts at the goal never stuck, allowing Kanoa to hold on to the lead. Kanoa then fired three more goals before time ran out for a 6-0 final.

In the 14U girls division, Kanoa won a lopsided, 16-0 over sister team, Kanoa 2. Aubrey White had a field day as she navigated through the pitch and was open at almost every turn, resulting in six goals.

Beatrice Gross collected five goals herself, with two goals by Ye Lynn Ha, and a goal each by Ritaline Lizama, Hayven Motisou, and Elikristiana Iglecias.

For Shirley’s in the 14U girls division, they defeated Paire FC, 5-2. Stacy Arriola led Shirley’s with her hat-trick completion by the 29th minute, which took the lead from Paire, 3-2. Two more goals were made by Alyssa Borlongan as Paire failed to retaliate.

Shirley’s also beat Paire in the 17U girls division, 4-2. It was all Borlongan in this game as she scored all four goals for Shirley’s. As for Paire’s two goals, they were made by Phoenix Gross and Mimi Culp.

In other results, in the U12 division, Matansa FC slipped past Southern United FC, 1-0. In the 14U boys, Latte FC nipped Kanoa 2, 4-2; MP United FC 1 defeated MP United 2, 4-2. In the 14U girls division, SUFC powered past Latte FC, 9-2; Kanoa blanked Kanoa 2, 16-0. In the 17U girls, SUFC trounced MP United, 12-2; and in the 17U boys division, Latte FC put one more over Kanoa, 2-1; and MP United beat Matansa, 7-2.
